Adopt-A-Clinic

The American Heart Association’s “Adopt-A-Clinic” program, sponsored locally by The Lumina Foundation, Fifth Third Bank and WRTV-6, bridges the gap of services and needs for Indianapolis residents amidst the current COVID-19 crisis and ongoing health disparities.

The program is working with Shalom Health Center (link opens in new window)on the west side of Indianapolis. Shalom clinicians work with more than 14,000 people, of which 98% live below the poverty line. Many of their clients have uncontrolled high blood pressure, increasing their risk for heart attack and stroke.

The “Adopt-A-Clinic” program provides Shalom with items such as jump ropes, pedometers, blood pressure self-management resources and other items that encourage at-home health and wellness. American Heart Association educational resources around nutrition, exercise and fitness, recipes and personal health assessments are also included.

Donations of the following items requested by Shalom can be made at the Fifth Third Bank location at 2802 Lafayette Road.

  • Pedometers
  • Glucometers
  • Diabetes test strips
  • Scales
  • Jump ropes
  • Digital blood pressure cuffs
