Looking for Meaningful Connection After Stroke?
We’re launching a Stroke Survivor-to-Survivor Mentorship Program this September 2025! This program connects stroke survivors in a supportive, peer-to-peer mentorship model designed to foster connection, empowerment, and meaningful life participation for both mentor and mentee.
We ask that the pairs:
- connect a minimum of 2 times each month. This can be done by text, in person, by phone, or virtually. Of course, we encourage you to meet more often!
-Attend an initial mentor-mentee training session virtually to learn about this role and build the skills needed for a successful partnership.
- Attend quarterly workshops with other mentor/mentee pairs. Topics are designed to support identified needs from survivors and will have a variety of specialists on topics like memory and attention support, care partner support, coping with stress, and connecting to local resources. We would love to hear what you want to learn more about in these sessions!
-Mentorship is not meant as an opportunity to seek or dispense medical advice, but to partner alongside another survivor in a time of transition and defining a new normal.
You are the expert in your own experience—could helping another survivor navigate their journey of renewed identity be a part of your story? Would you benefit from guidance and support in your own journey?
The program is offered in collaboration with the NC Albert Schweitzer Fellowship. If you’re a stroke survivor interested in being a mentor or mentee, we’d love to hear from you and learn what you might want included in the program.
