Aphasia group. Average age 70's. Our group is a "fun" group! All members look forward to our weekly meetings. We start out with roll call, go around the table and discuss what new things have happened over the past 2 wks. We work on 2-3 structured communication activities, work games, sentence tasks, etc. Snacks are provided at the closing. Homework is given to those interested and some are designated as the "callers" to remind all members of our next meeting.
Our group is designed for stroke survivors with communication deficits, aphasia, cognitive deficits, dysarthria, etc. The majority of our members have received output input speech therapy; however, they continue to require an avenue to address communication deficits and frustrations. Family members are welcome to observe and participate. The group is run by two speech language pathologists that specialize in neurogenic communication deficits. Alternate contact: Lynne Dudley.
Please contact the support group before arriving to confirm meeting location, date, and time.
