Program Overview

The faculty will discuss how literature indicates that organized acute stroke care and early access to intense rehabilitation improves patient outcomes.  It appears that the future of stroke care will be the refinement and improvement of rehabilitation therapies.

Goals and Learning Objectives

The goal of Growing Importance of Interdisciplinary Teamwork in Stroke Rehabilitation is to understand the benefits of collaboration among the rehabilitation team when providing care for stroke survivors. As a result of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Discuss the benefits and challenges of team collaboration in the management of care for stroke survivors
  • Generate methods to address the challenges to team collaboration

Target Audience

The target audience includes occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, rehabilitative specialists and assistants, stroke center coordinators, nurses, hospital administrators, and other healthcare professionals who provide care to stroke patients.
