Running the New York Marathon

In November, 2004, at the age of 49, I had a brain hemorrhage. All use of the right side of my body was gone.

Recovery was a challenge but I'm able to run again, albeit pretty slow.

My wife, Valerie, had run the Chicago Marathon a year after my stroke. She always inspired me to push hard during my recovery. When the therapists would ask me to do 10 push-ups, I'd always give them 11.

I ran my first marathon two years after my stroke.

I am so excited to be running the coveted New York Marathon. Valerie and I have never been to New York before so this feels like the perfect cause, the perfect time and an ideal place to run a marathon again.

We hope that, with your help, we can raise funds for the National Stroke Association. 100% of the funds raised will help prevent others from having a stroke or help those that have had a stroke get the best possible recovery.

Thank you very much.
