My Dad is a superhero. When my sister's and I were little a fire broke out in the microwave. As we were screaming, he blew it out in one breath. Honestly it's a true story! He's also run 42 marathons across the country. 32 consecutive NYC Marathons with his best time at 3 hours 24 minutes. He's admired and loved by everyone, including strangers that come into his life. On February 18, 2012 at 4:30am my 8 year old nephew found my father on the floor unable to move. My nephew called 911 and I met them at the hospital. My father had a stroke and his right side was paralyzed. My father signed up for the Boston Marathon that April and the doctors said he wouldn't be ready. My father asked about running the NYC marathon and they doctors said it's possible. Possible in my father's dictionary means yes. So my father went from struggling to keep his balance, to walking to walking to one tree then run, adding another tree to run to each day, to ready to run 2012 NYC Marathon and I was going to run right by his side. Unfortunately Hurricane Sandy hit and the Marathon was cancelled. Now, 2013 he's ready to run and so excited. I have joined the National Stroke Association Team so I can run by his side. He's an inspiration to all as he fought so hard to come back from the stroke and he'll tell you, it wasn't easy but he did it and it can be done. I'm so proud of my Daddy and I can't wait to run all over NYC to show him off!!

National Stroke Association’s mission is to reduce the incidence and impact of stroke by developing compelling education and programs focused on prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and support for all impacted by stroke. Thank you for joining us to try and stop this devastating disease.
