There are many ways to support stroke. The events listed below include fundraising and community awareness events hosted by National Stroke Association or members of the stroke community. Check back often for new events.

For the second year, runners will join the Stroke Challenge team stopping traffic in Manhattan, from Central Park through Times Square to the South Street Seaport for 13.1-miles.

May 4, 2014

National Stroke Association’s team of cyclists will participate in a 42-mile course through each of New York City’s five boroughs.

2014 New York City Triathlon

Aug. 3, 2014

Members of National Stroke Association’s triathlon team will participate in a 1.5-km swim, a 40-km bike and a 10-km run throughout New York City. There are still a limited number of spots on the 2014 team.

Community Fundraising Events Benefiting National Stroke Association

NEW YORK

Date: September 27th, 2014 at 10:00
Event Name: 17th Annual Walk with Dinah and Friends
Location: Jones Beach State Park- 1000 Ocean Parkway Wantagh, NY 11793
Event Description:
We will meet at Parking Field #6 at 9:30 and we will start the three-mile walk at 10:00.

Please make a tax-deductible donation of either $10.00 per child, $30.00 per adult or more
All contributions fund the National Stroke Association

Reason for Event- Each year, we raise money in honor of Diana, our mother and friends who have died from complications of a stroke or are stroke survivors.

ARIZONA

Location:  Faith Missionary Baptist Church located at 5802 S. 7th Ave., Phoenix, AZ
Event Description: Please join us for our annual health and resource fair. This free event is open to the public and you can learn about information and services that might be available to you.

OHIO

Event Name: Spring Street Baptist Church Community Health Fair
Event Sponsor: Spring Street Baptist Church
Location:  Chester Zablocki Senior Center located at 3015 Lagrange, Toledo, OH
Event Description: Join us and learn about healthy habits and lifestyles. Learn how to prevent stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other common health problems. We will be providing free health screenings.

Living Well with a Chronic Condition
Event Sponsor:
Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Human Services

Event Description:
Living Well with Chronic Conditions is a six-week workshop that provides tools for living a healthy life with chronic health conditions, including diabetes, arthritis, asthma and heart disease. Through weekly sessions, the workshop provides support for continuing normal daily activities and dealing with the emotions that chronic conditions may bring about.
