Discovery Circles Guide To Organizing and Facilitating Stroke Support Groups

Group leaders choosing to establish Discovery Circles within their communities are helping to develop a model that complements rehabilitation programs of the future.
By becoming involved in Discovery Circles, survivors work toward individualized goal setting, self-help, and self-discovery. The group experience helps members to explore the mind/body connection and the important role psychosocial factors play in stroke rehabilitation and recovery.
In addition to providing this manual, National Stroke Association is available as a resource for ongoing information and support for all interested individuals and/or institutions. Since National Stroke Association is a clearinghouse for the most recent information regarding stroke recovery, group leaders are welcome to contact National Stroke Association for printed material or background information on the topics to be discussed at group meetings.
National Stroke Association would like to include your group's information in our national stroke group registry. The detailed information you provide will help to match your group with potential new members through our website and our national help-line 1-800-STROKES. The registration process is simple.
