I have really appreciated your magazine. I had a stroke at the age of 35, in 1990. In the past eight months my father has had multiple mini-strokes. Now, I not only read your magazine for me, but for him too. I share it with my parents. Thank you so much and keep up the great work! Linda K. Young Loysville, PA
I ordered Stroke Smart magazine and read in the first issue I received about the man who rode bikes before his stroke and was able to resume his sporting activity. So, one day in September, I decided I could live my life in fear or just live my life. I got on my sister-in-law’s bike and started to push myself up and down the driveway, lifting my feet every so often to see if I had any balance. I was ecstatic to find out that I did! Then I lifted my feet to the pedals and proceeded to go around the block twice. My wife and family were as thrilled as I was. National Stroke Association has encouraged me to stop being afraid and feeling sorry for myself. Keep up the good work. Brian Lovett Parma, Ohio
I “snitched” your magazine as I awaited my transportation back to my retirement home. I was in a local out-patient rehab where I go for therapy since my stroke several months ago. Stroke seems to be a hush-hush disease… I hope through your magazine we will speak as readily of it as we do of cancer and AIDS nowadays. Evelyn Niemann Tucson, Arizona
