Past Fundraising Events
There are many people who organize or participate in fundraising events to benefit National Stroke Association every year. In addition to raising funds for stroke, these events are great ways to distribute information about stroke prevention and treatment. Below are just a few examples of what people have done in the past.

Below are example of the types of events organizers have been involved in.
Bowl-A-Thon
Melissa Brown and the National Speech-Language and Hearing Association at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue NY had a Bowl-A-Thon.
Fashion Show
Christina Worms organized a Fashion Show in West Hollywood, CA. Two of the models were a young stroke survivor named Dan Tyler and his guide dog Tuscan!
Golf
Rich Kostek, a stroke survivor, and his wife Karen organized a golf tournament in Easthampton, MA.
Margaret Krull and the Ladies Golf Association in Williamsburg VA held a golf event for stroke as their President’s Charity event.
Marathons
Dina Pagnotta, a 30-year old stroke survivor, ran in the NYC Marathon. Jillien Waldron ran in the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon in memory of her mother, Sharon Lee O’Donnell.
Pancake Breakfast Mary Darling had a Pancake Breakfast in honor of her brother Charles Darling and to raise awareness of stroke symptoms. National Stroke Association provided artwork with the FAST message to be printed on placemats for all guests. National Stroke Association has worked with Fado Irish Pub in Denver, Colorado for the past three years on St. Patrick's Day. School Play Jeff Hogan directed and arranged a musical production called The Fall of Rain for his senior year English project in Westfield, NJ. Jeff made this a fundraiser in honor of his grandmother who is a stroke survivor.
Swimming
Ann Liebmann, a Masters Swimmer, swims every year in honor of her cousin George Yapel who is a stroke survivor. Ann has done this for five years straight.
Steve Gillis, a 45-year old stroke survivor, swam in the 10th Annual Alcatraz Invitational.
Tennis
Natalie Tannenbaum organized a tennis event in Great Neck, NY in honor of her grandmother, Ruth, who is a stroke survivor.
Walks
The Suridis family organizes an annual walk in memory of their mother. The event started in 1998 and occurs every fall in Long Island NY. |
