Stroke Rapid Response™ Prehospital Education Training

Education is Vital to EMS Role in Stroke
EMS is the first medical contact for more than half of all patients who have a stroke. And, EMS transport significantly shortens the arrival time to hospital. Why are these facts key to EMS stroke education? Because stroke is an emergency and it’s treatable within 3 hours of symptom onset. A recent 3-year data analysis also found that stroke patients brought in by EMS were twice as likely to receive a timely CT scan. With FAST recognition of symptoms in the field and appropriate medical intervention, stroke patients can have positive outcomes.
National Stroke Association’s Stroke Rapid Response™ is a new innovative program that teaches EMS and prehospital providers basic and advanced stroke information, including field assessment and hospital treatment, and provides reference tools that can be used when caring for stroke patients. It’s the educational answer for hospitals seeking to meet The Joint Commission requirements for training EMS, community colleges, EMS educators, local firehouses or an individual in need of CEUs. Training content is divided into key sections or modules for flexibility and customization to audience, a community’s local protocols and to meet the program goals.
The Stroke Rapid Response™ program includes products for a variety of prehospital audiences and settings, such as a classroom training kit for educating up to 25 participants, individualized, accredited online training and an attachable stroke field guide to take on the road.
NEW! Stroke Rapid Response™ Online With this individualized, accredited 2-hour training program, pre-hospital providers can learn about stroke at any time, place, and pace they choose. Participants can earn up to two contact hours. Click here to read more and access the online training.
