Survivor

Where Did That Come From

Hello, I'm 39 years old and have had 2 strokes in the past year. I have kept myself pretty healthy, and eat well, and exercised 6 days a week.

Prior to my first stroke, I ran a 1/2 marathon faster than I had ever done before. I have run several races including, triathalon's, a full marathon, a super spartan obstacle course race and several 1/2 marathons.

While running an obstacle course race, I damaged my coratid artery and as a result, had a disected coratid artery, and a few days later suffered an ischemic stroke, leaving me paralyzed on my left side.

I got out of the hospital, and had no idea what was in store for me as a post stroke survivor. I went through many rounds of therapy and am now training for another race 1/2 marathon in November, 1 year later. (If I can make it.)
