Lavonne H. ![]() Survivor I was painting at my easel one morning in my art class. After 3 hours of steady work it was time to go attempt driving home. I got in the car, drove about 3 miles and my head began to jerk to the side. I kept driving and entered our garage. I almost fell out of the car, staggered to the elevator and asked someone to help me to our condo. My husband, a family physician, and the other person carried me inside. He was shocked, I was too and so was the friend! I was taken to the hospital emergency room where the staff checked me over. Another physician was called to do the necessary exams. I was in the hospital three days. Since then I've been careful to move around - no long periods of being still! I've learned to move my feet and legs on long car trips and also move around at home now and then. Since then I've had two similar episodes, which are called transient ischemic attacks -'TIA'--. These can be a warning of a possible stroke if not treated. |
