My stroke, my family

My name is Mary. I suffered a major debilitating stroke in 1999. I was paralyzed on my left side. Some doctors said I might never stand or walk again.

My family, my husband and sons stood by my side. I had the courage to try hard to recover. Today I can walk, exercise and nearly thriteen years after my stroke I am still working toward the fullest recovery possible. I love my husband, he is my best friend, my life partner and the love of my life. I love all my friends and adore my family. We have four beautiful grandchildren. Together we are looking forward to the day we get our first great grandkids. A stroke is a major thing, but with love and caring coupled with desire to recovery it is not insurmountable.

I would like to thank all my doctors, physical therapists and recovery specialists, including my husband. Most of all I would like to thank God for all his help.
