Mary Frances Sulminski and I have worked together since 2007. Mary is well respected for her clinical expertise and her professionalism. Moreover, I appreciate the clear, direct communication she has brought to our team. Her approach to families and patients is always respectful and her words are well chosen. During our family conferences, Mary couples this clear communication with a warmth and a desire to share a resident's therapy goals and achievements. Mary is an excellent teacher and garners confidence from the patients and families. She uses her talent for teaching to inservice all levels of staff, and because of this, she affects positive change in resident care. On a personal level, I have found Mary to be funny, witty and thoughtful. My colleagues and I appreciate her. She knows when to get the work done and when to take a minute or two to enjoy others. Mary walks a journey of recovery with those who can't walk. She gives a voice to those who may not be able to speak, and she supports those patients who are fighting for their recovery. She is one of the Faces of Stroke.
