Family & Survivor
I would like to nominate my Mom, Lucy B. She suffered a TIA several years ago. Even though she is confined to a wheelchair and lives in a nursing home, she maintains an active lifestyle. She stays "on the go" participating in the Rosary, exercise, bingo and parties at the home. She lost her 58-year-old son to a massive stroke in July 2007.
I work for Life Line Screening and speak almost every weekend at area Catholic churches giving a 3‐5 minute pulpit announcement about stroke and stroke prevention. I also speak to groups and organizations and senior groups throughout southeastern LA and MS. Understanding stroke risk factors and warning signs is the key to prevention.
