Jan F.  Healthcare Professional & Caregiver Jan is the Stroke Outreach Program Coordinator at The Methodist Hospital (a comprehensive stroke center) in Houston. She was previously a night shift nurse at the Eddy Scurlock Stroke Center at TMH. She travels all over the state and surrounding areas teaching healthcare providers and laypersons about stroke. She was the one who realized her husband was having a stroke while recovering from a cardiac catheterization. She has lived the "stroke experience" from both sides. Jan was instrumental in helping me get my hospital ready for Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center certification and has helped many others in and around Texas as well. She is the face of stroke in Houston and in the state. She volunteers on the Texas Cardiovascular Council in working to prevent stroke. And this is just the tip of the iceberg... |
