Jose Q.

Survivor

My dad, Jose Q., had his first stroke in July 2005 in the Philippines. He finally came back home to the United States in January 2006. He has had two more strokes and a couple of mini‐strokes to this date. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer February 2009. He has had medical treatments and has been in and out of hospital because of blockages from the bladder cancer. My dad lives with me, and I take care of him full‐time as a single mom with a teenage son and two dogs at the same time. He is able to go up and down on steps, ride his scooter to the mall and grocery store, fix most of his meals and bathe and dress himself too.
