Survivor
The person I am nominating is my brother. His stroke occurred in July 2010. His left side was impacted, but he did not experience any problems with speech or cognitive thought processes. Mike went through extensive rehabilitation where he was a model patient and very compliant. He continued outpatient therapy. He went from not being able to walk or use his left arm, graduated to a walker and now uses a cane only outdoors. He remained very positive for other patients who were in the rehab facility and outpatient therapies. He had a set‐back event in early fall, but has recovered and continues to do well. I believe he is and would be an excellent role model and advocate for other stroke survivors, and therefore, an excellent candidate for your Faces of Stroke campaign. He is a distinguished, handsome man who continues in his job as the national sales account manager for a nationally recognized bakery product company.
