Survivor
My sister, Mickey, survived a stroke last year and is still recovering. It is difficult for her because she has always been the care provider. She cared for our father when he was suffering from dementia (full time), and when he passed away, Mickey took care of our mother who died due to cancer (again, full time). Mickey moved in with our parents and took care of them night and day. Until her own stroke, she always took care of others, including our grandmother who died from cancer. Today, she is living with her daughter and is now on the receiving end. Mickey is one in a million, and she deserves to be recognized so that she feels better about being where she is. She is able to walk with the assistance of a cane and use a wheelchair. Presently, she is unable to speak and is learning sign language. Please...she is a true example of love and devotion.
