Lauren Michele H.  Survivor My daughter Lauren had a brain stem stroke and multiple cerebellar strokes on July 18, 2010. We were told that she should have been a vegetable, but she has recovered to the point of only having a slight problem with her speech and some weakness in her right hand. She now finally feels like her normal self and is hoping to return to work as a nurse in the not too distant future. Her story should serve as a great encouragement to other young people and prove that strokes do not always happen to the elderly. This is vital as when she was taken to the emergency room, they took note of her age and did not believe she could have had a stroke. They thought it was hemiplegic migraine. Even hospitals need to be made much more aware that young women can have strokes! |
