Thanksgiving weekend 2010, our 20-month-old son suffered a stroke deep in his brain that left us completely shocked and heartbroken. The neurologists weren't sure what his prognosis would be. We, nor anyone we knew, had ever heard of a baby having a stroke. He went from running to not even being able to sit up on his own. A week after the stroke, he was sitting up on his own again and walking with assistance. He went home 13 days after his stroke and was walking on his own! He is currently in outpatient therapy and still has some limited movement on his left side. He also has heightened sensitivity on that side so we're not sure what his long term condition will be, but he is our little hero! He weathered it all amazingly well and works so hard to be able to do the things he used to do! I think he's an excellent story because most people have never heard of a young stroke victim. He's also an amazing story of recovery and the will to be mobile again!
