Survivor
I was at work and I started feeling numbness in my right hand and weak in the right leg. I started doing the FAST test, and it was still too early for the stroke to show too much. My father had a stroke at 45 years old, and I knew about strokes. My personality is similar to my father’s so I knew I needed to watch out for strokes. My stroke was hemorrhagic and my fathers was ischemic. After calling 911, the attendant said, “You are not showing any signs,” but I knew I was having a stroke. I got him to take me to the hospital where they listened to me and did scans and found the stroke was hemorrhaging. I was admitted and treated for a hemorrhagic stroke. I remember my headache the most after surgery. I am currently in an inpatient rehab hospital and progressing well. I have a positive attitude toward my situation and future. My time spent in therapy in an inpatient rehab hospital has been a wonderful experience. I thank God for where I am today.
