Survivor
Stroke Saved My Life
A quick story of when and where I had my stroke and ensuing continuous recovery
I had my stroke at 5:27 p.m. on May 29th 2010, I was showering when it happened. My wife forced me to go to the hospital as I thought I was just tired. Thank God she did, I was 31 years old, life is much different now, I am still recovering daily. I had a huge amount of support from my wife and my family. I might be a bit bias but I believe my wife is the best caregiver out there, through her support and ability to push and motivate me the right way I have made huge strides in my recovery.
My goal for 2012 is to run a 5K or longer once a month for the whole year. My wife, 8yr old son and 5yr old daughter run with me. I am pushing to complete a marathon in February of 2013.
In the meantime my journey of recovery continues. I am no longer going to formal rehab, but I exercise everyday with the hope of getting back to 100% soon.
