Survivor
A Stroke of Chance
I survived a stroke in 2005. It changed me, most notably the level of frustration I felt for the lack of support for people with brain injuries
After surviving a stroke and leaving the hospital a person with a brain injury, my life and the lives of my family and friends changed forever. While I suffer from cognitive challenges and some physical as well, I was overwhelmed at the lack of knowledge, support, and education that there is around stroke and other brain injuries. So I decided to yell at anyone that would listen by running across the country. One marathon a day, and talk to as many schools, brain injury associations, sporting events, and federal and local news as I could.
