Gloria M.

Survivor

Gloria suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in January 1994 at the age of 68. When she was taken to the emergency department and scans were done, family was told of how grave her situation was due to the amount of bleeding in her brain. Despite the odds against Gloria for a positive outcome and recovery, she worked very hard in rehab and maintained a very positive attitude to work toward recovery. It was thought at the time that she should perhaps retire. After completing rehab, she took a driver's course so she could continue driving. She also did not retire. Not only did Gloria survive her stroke, she recovered her life back. The following year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After recovering from a mastectomy, she continued with her active life. Gloria is now approaching her 86th birthday and still works and leads an active life. She is truly an inspiration to those around her.
