Jennifer K.

Survivor

Jen survived a severe stroke at age 29 that left her with aphasia and right sided hemiplegia. At the time of her stroke, she was a single mom with a five-year-old daughter. Currently, her daughter, now eight, lives with her grandparents (us). Jen has had three major brain surgeries and is living in an assisted-living apartment. In spite of the everyday challenge of relearning basic English and math skills, communicating, reading and operating a household with one hand, she continues to persevere. Her daily motivation and "I can do it" attitude is an inspiration to all of us. Jen's ultimate goal is to once again parent her daughter full-time.
