Kate C. ![]() Survivor My daughter Kate is an appropriate nominee for this event. Six years ago, at the age of 24, she suffered a catastrophic brain hemorrhage which left her partially paralyzed on the right side and significantly diminished in her capacity for speech, reading and writing. The work that she has put in to her recovery has been truly impressive. Learning how to walk (with a brace and cane) and gradually repairing her communication skills has been slow and arduous work. Five years ago, she created and continues to chair the Aneurysm Survivors Support Group, and she is often asked to speak before students and staff at a rehabilitation institute in NYC. |
