Dr. Teresa ![]() Caregiver & Healthcare Professional My mother, Mary Lou Chapa, was a nurse caring for the health of others, and unfortunately seemed to put hers aside which lead to her suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm in December 2008. My father retired to care for her full time but in 2009 they divorced. I,(Natalia), being a single mother of a teenager and working full-time, stepped in to care for my mother for seven months. When I added school to my life I could not care for my mother and my duties to my son and needed to pass that responsibility to my sister, Teresa (Terry). My sister was in the beginning stages of completing her dissertation for her doctorate in Psychology. She uprooted her husband from the home and employment to move in and care for my mother. Terry became my mother's legal guardian in 2009 and helped my mother in the divorce of my father. Soon after Terry completed her doctorate degree and continues to work and care for my mother. |
