Kellie suffered a massive left-brain stroke on Nov 11, 2009, at age 32. She was unable to move any part of the right side of her body, or to speak when she was admitted to the hospital in Pensacola, FL. Before her stroke, Kellie was an active, vivacious, and very vocal young lady. One who truly believed that she had 25,000 words to use every day of her life, and had to use them in some way! She was an aspiring writer, who wrote a poem to read as a eulogy at her Grandmother's funeral just two years before. Finding herself unable to speak or move was truly devastating.

But Kellie didn't give up! She worked extremely hard, and through her faith and hard work was relased to outpatient therapy on December 21 that year. They were able to reach her speech center through music, and by the time she came home to Colorado for Christmas, she was able to say simple sentences, and express her wants and feelings. She entered Outpatient Rehab in Albuquerque in January, and can now walk without any support, and read and write on a computer. She began a novel recently, and goes on walks every day. She's a true inspiration!
