Caregiver and Family
Over two years ago, my father "went in" for routine Cardiac Surgery and was supposed to be home in five days. He had just retired. He had a stroke during the surgery and was in a coma for several weeks. He woke up, but has been paralyzed on his entire left side ever since. He is wheelchair bound for the rest of his life.
His wife Carol is amazing. She took him home instead of placing him in a nursing home, and through trial and tribulation, she has learned how to move him around, wash him up and help him take part in his daily tasks. To this day, she takes care of him every day to her fullest ability. His long term memory is good; however, his short term is not so good, but she deals with all of the problems as they arise with a smile forever on her face.
She is truly one of the most amazing people I know. It is an honor to be her stepdaughter. Thank you, Shirley O.
