Five years ago, my mother relocated temporarily from New Orleans, LA to Grand Prairie,TX as a result of Hurricane Katrina. 'Betty's' diet changed, her insurance had been dropped and it was difficult for her to manage her diabetes and hypertension. Due to poor blood pressure management, increase in weight, poor diet and smoking, 'Betty' had a stroke the day after her 50th birthday. She died 28 days later. I try and educate everyone I know about the pitfalls of STROKE and how deadly it is.
Sadly, I wish I had educated my mother more.
