Susan G. ![]() Survivor My name is Susan Greene, and I had a life changing moment on May 25, 2003. I was only 43 years old. Around midnight, I was awaken by a choking episode. Not being able to breathe, I fell on my face in the floor. My husband came running to my aid. I had no pulse. He gave me CPR, thank God he knew how, until he had a pulse again. He called 911 and continued to breath in my mouth forcing air into my lungs until they arrived. While the EMS was working with me, I died twice, and they had to use the paddle to revive me both times. I was airlifted to the hospital. I stayed in ICU for three weeks. I survived after a long rehabilitation until the last of December. I have been left with claw toe, and a weakened right side. The stroke was caused by acid reflux and this prevented oxygen to my brain. I have, and continue, to take medication for the acid reflux and thank God I had had no more episodes of choking again. |
