Doug M.

Survivor

I am a two time stroke survivor and I am part of the stroke team at our hospital. We visit stroke patients and their families in the hospital. I do health fairs and as much community education as possible. I also lead our local stroke support group, and have attended every stroke conference I can.

After my stroke, I had to learn to play my guitar all over again, and have written a song about my recovery. I try to use my music and my story to help encourage others. I have had the honor to share it on our local NBC morning show. I have made it my mission in life to educate others about stroke. People have said I would make a great stroke spokesperson. I just know that it's what I have to do.
