Candra K.  Survivor I am a stroke survivor. My stroke happened in 2001 when I was ten. Now ten years later, my stroke still affects me. I am a hemiplegic, with out the use of my right arm, however I still finished up high school and started in college. I am an avid long distance runner as well as a photographer. I have been through three years of rehabilitation, as well as six years of counseling, learning and telling other people my story, inspiring them to prevent a stroke for them and their loved ones. Stroke is a serious issue, and mine happened because there was a blood clot clogging an artery. I have been helping kids out in my local area with the same problem, showing them there is life after stroke, although it may have been tragic to overcome it. |
