Jeff R.

Survivor

I will be celebrating my ten year anniversary this year on February 17th. Since my stroke, I have taken up running and have ran 31 half marathons, 14 marathons and an ultra-marathon. Several of my marathons were fundraisers for stroke. All together I have raised over $30,000 for various stroke related charities. I am currently training to ride my bike across Iowa this summer. I would also like to learn how to swim so I could do a triathlon. I have been volunteering at the hospital where I did my rehab since March of 2002, and estimate that I have shared my story with 3,600 stroke survivors and their families to help them understand that after a stroke you can still lead a terrific life. I have been contacted by several other hospitals asking for me to talk to patients, and have tried my best to help where I can. I would be pleased to be selected for this campaign.
