Survivor
I had my stroke six months ago at age 57. I had just returned home from the doctors office. I had been trying to get my high blood pressure under control for a few months. I fell in the bathroom. My wife realized it was a stroke when I could not get up, move my left foot, and spoke badly. I denied it. She called 911 and I received the tpa shot at three hours 15 minutes after my stroke. Six months later, after three and a half months in hospitals and rehab facilities, I am still wheelchair bound, but alive and learning to walk again.
I had a hard road behind me and still have a hard road ahead, but with God's grace I have made progress and will recover and work again.
