Lauren R. ![]() Survivor In October 2008, I had a stroke from taking yaz birth control. I was in my sophomore year of college when it happened. I was only 20. My whole life changed. I had to learn how get dressed, learn my abc's, go through physical therapy, move home, and I lost my independence. It was very hard for me because I was unable to talk to my friends and family through all of it. I went through so much speech therapy for a couple years that I eventually lost my health insurance, and had to go to therapy at a local college to save money. They were great, though. There is so much more to my story. Trust me. I just can't share it properly, but I try! My family is so amazing and has always been there for me. I lost everything that day, but I have worked so hard for a stroke to not ruin my life. I am now 22 and ready to fight my stroke head on again. I am amazed of stroke survivors. I lost my innocence then, and will be a young adult no matter how hard I have to work for it. I am so blessed. I wish I could properly share my story, I just can't share it right yet, but I will soon! I want to show the youth stroke story to others to protect them and give hope. |
