Charles M. ![]() Survivor My stroke was undiagnosed for at least a week before I went to the doctor. It started along with a cold, probably occurring at night. I remember being extremely tired the day before. My speech was slightly slurred, and I couldn't pronounce common words. I remember trying to discuss a bus driver while driving home with my son. I just couldn't pronounce "driving gloves" no matter how hard I tried. My son and I laughed about it, but later that night I was extremely tired. I finally went to the emergency room the next day thinking they would give me a shot to clear it up. Boy, was I wrong! I stayed in hospital for almost a week. Here I am, over six months after. The slight paralysis to my right side and the aphasia is slow but, I'm coping with it. |
