Survivor
On April 30 of 2009 I experienced a stroke. My roommate was home and found me, and quickly called 911. I am a single mother of two children, Takoda (10) and Malakai (7). My family was amazing. They came and took care of my boys while I was in the ICU. I stayed there for approximately six weeks, and then was transferred to a rehab facility in Pomona, California where I stayed for an additional four weeks. I had to learn to walk again.
I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am for my family who was amazing during this time. They kept the normal routine for my boys while I was recovering. I was 36 when this happened. I went back to work in less than a year. The only side effect I have, is foot drop on my left leg. I am extremely thankful to be alive!
