Pamela B. ![]() Survivor At age 43, I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. I had no previous health problems and no warnings. When I woke up five days later, I was like a new born baby. I had to relearn everything, including how to sit up. I was in a hospital rehab unit for 27 days, trying to relearn how to function on a daily basis. I am five years out and doing great. I am a peer visitor talking to other stroke survivors, I'm on the Advisory Board at the AHA talking to my local legislators, volunteer for the OK Brain Inj. Association, and run a successful AVON business. I was unable to return to work but have found that my volunteering helps not only others, but myself. I have done promotional photo shoots for a local hospital and have done an interview with one of our local television stations. All of this I hope brings awareness that strokes can strike anyone. |
