Elsa U. ![]() Elsa U. Survivor At age of 20, I had had my second stroke. The first was a TIA, and I am not exactly sure when I had it... The second was a major stroke. It left my right side paralyzed for over a month, I lost my short term memory, and more than half of my long term memory. It has been 19 years, and recovery still is very hard. A lot of people just don't understand, but I finally accepted myself around eight months ago, and haven't been happier. It is what it is, and I am just so happy to be alive. People don't know what they have until it's gone. I struggle everyday with things like my memory, but luckily I am a survivor, and am happy I can at least walk. I believe that there should be more stroke awareness for the young people who have strokes. |
