Survivor
I have been a T-9 paraplegic since 1978, but was fortunate enough to have been employed by a large chemical company since 1969. My career ended on January 12, 2008 when I suffered a right brain stroke. I delayed going to the hospital because I thought I was developing the flu. My wife encouraged me to look in a mirror...and my mouth was drooping. She called 911 and I was rushed to the hospital. I awakened the next morning to learn that I could not move my left arm, or speak clearly. The folks at the hospital saved my life. I rehabilitated and after a grueling rehab, I recovered use of my arm.
