Philip
Survivor
I suffered a "small" stroke on April 18, 2009 in the early evening while sitting at the computer reading a long document. I dozed off (not unusual) and when I awoke, my arms and legs felt a bit heavy. Thinking I'd be ok in the morning, I went to bed after dinner. When I woke up the next morning I felt the same, so I went to the local ER. They found nothing wrong.
Two days later, I called my neurologist (I also have epilepsy) who told me to come to the ER. They did a CT-Scan and MRI, and found that I had suffered a stroke. Today, I am recovering after PT, going to the gym, walking, and doing yard work, but I am still weak and lack my earlier coordination. The epilepsy also somewhat inhibits my physical activities. I might be better had the initial ER been more alert and recognized my symptoms.
