Survivor
On August 5th 2009, as I was getting ready for bed, my wife was speaking to me and noticed that my speech was slurred. She saw my leg give out on me. She turned on the light and saw that my face was drooping on the left side. She screamed that she was going to call 911, and that I was having a stroke. I told her not call 911; I was in complete denial. Luckily, she did not listen and she called 911 anyway. The paramedics were there within minutes, and I was rushed to the hospital. I had a severe hemorrhagic stroke deep inside the basal ganglia. Due to the immediate care that I received and seven months of intense daily therapy, I had an amazing recovery. I have returned to work as a Mechanical Engineer.
