Linda
Survivor
My story begins with a horrific headache I had all day on May 8, 2008. After working during the day, coming home to feed and take care of my two children, and putting them to bed, I finally had time to - dare I say - take care of myself. I thought a good night's sleep would do the trick. However, as I attempted to go to sleep I kept remembering something I had read (a PSA?) about strokes, and how a horrible headache is reason to go to the ER. So I woke my daughter up and had her call 911. I blacked out before they arrived but my daughter was able to convey my symptoms to the medical personnel.
Needless to say I had a brain hemorrhage. My story takes me to surgery, a great surgeon, ICU, rehabilitation with speech, physical and occupation therapy, and a long road of work ahead of me. Two years later I am so happy to be alive, and am thankful for each day. My perspective on life is different and I am happy.
