Survivor
I am married and have two children, ages three and two. My son, and youngest child, was three months old when I had my stroke. I woke up on March 8, 2009 with a stomach flu. My husband took the kids to his mom's so that I could get some rest. Throughout the day, my head started to bother me, and I called him as I felt I was going to pass out. He couldn't understand what I was saying to him. He called 911 and I was taken to the hospital. It was not initially recognized that I was having a stroke. After approximately two hours, I was transported to a different hospital and was placed in neuro-ICU. I was there for a few days, and spent time in rehab. I have since recovered, with the exception of a visual field deficit that prohibits me from driving.
