Carlene M.

Healthcare Professional

My life has been touched in many ways by stroke. I have family members that have suffered a stroke. I have lost family members to stroke. As a nurse for the past 16 years, I have cared for stroke patients. I am very passionate about stroke, and I can relate to the patient and family not only on a professional level, but also on a personal level. I take every opportunity available to educate our community. I enjoy conducting health fairs, and participate in arts and crafts fairs, always setting up a table for stroke awareness. I serve as a member of Care Task Force, and also serve as the West Tennessee Region Lead for the Tennessee Stroke Coordinators Consortium. As the Stroke Coordinator for our hospital, I am working with our therapy department to form a stroke support group. I am also a Basic Life Support Instructor, and I hope to teach basic life support to stroke survivors and their family members. I will continue to do whatever I can to raise awareness for stroke.
