I have worked in my hospital for the care and diagnosis of stroke since 1985, when I received my degree as a neurologist. After my participation at the American Academy of Neurology, held in San Francisco in 1996, and after seeing some brochures from the National Stroke Association, I founded upon my return to Italy an association of patients, relatives, healthcare professionals and caregivers named ALICE. Alice stands for Associazione Lotta Ictus Cerebrale (Association Against Stroke in English). Now ALICE, the only association against stroke in Italy, is present in over 100 cities and 19 Italian regions.
