Healthcare Professional

I am a registered sleep technologist in Augusta, Georgia. I am the day technologist and coordinator for the lab. I am also the facilitator for the A.W.A.K.E support group, one of only 3 in the state. I am submitting my nomination because I am deeply concerned that in general, people with stroke are not receiving sleep studies as part of the follow up care. I believe it is vital that they do have the sleep study to evaluate for and treat sleep apnea once a stroke has occurred. I would like to see the sleep study included as routine follow up care for all stroke victims. As a sleep technologist, I am committed to educating others as to the impact that sleep apnea has on every aspect of health.
